An abundance of timeshare opportunities exist in Scotland and one of the regular locations that show up for trades on Interval International is Seasons (a United Kingdom based vacation living company) Brunston Castle location, located in tranquil Ayrshire County.

We opted for a May visit since the days are full of daylight, well past 10 p.m. during our week-long stay.

Brunston Castle is not a castle nor is it a resort. If you are looking for a quite holiday location this has to be one of the spots that can deliver. Located in a tranquil valley near the City of Ayr and Town of Daily. You have privacy galore here as you get your own bungalow. Ours was a two bedroom with a living/dining area and a single bathroom. A full-service kitchen with convection/microwave oven and stove was available, and a lovely porch was attached.

The kitchen was well equipped with every possible utensil that you might need to use down the egg cups for your boiled eggs and corkscrew for wine. If golf is your game, then you will be in heaven. The Brunston Castle golf course is a five-minute walk.

The furnishings were quite nice. One room had a double bed and the other a pair of twin beds. A sofa sleeper was also available. A color television was available and you had several stations available. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Customer service is something Seasons staff. How well you might ask? How about when we had a problem with our rental car, they were the ones that were apologizing, and they did not rent the car to us.

Just remember when you rent in Scotland to try and find an inexpensive car so you can get good gas mileage. While we were visiting a gallon of gasoline cost over $7 US!! You can take a bus to the timeshare but I would not recommend it, for it will take a few transfers from the airport. The real hospitality test came on Thursday of our visit. After a day of touring the countryside, we returned around 9 p.m. to find water coming out of the ceiling in our bedroom. Since the front desk closes at 9 p.m., the maintenance help is on call.

But, every night the clubhouse at the golf course, not affiliated with the timeshare, has activities and Seasons staff can be found, as we had come to notice on our visits. Once arriving there the manager was on hand and within minutes we had someone at our unit. The hot water heater had burst. They quickly moved us to a new unit and the move was completed within the hour.

The next morning a Seasons staffer stopped by our new abode to make sure that everything was in order and that we had no other problems.

On site there is a game room with snooker (a pool like game), and you can rent VCRs at about three pounds, and an indoor swimming pool was available. Brunston Castle offers some type of activity in the nearby golf club house every night. On Sunday, it is a traditional Scottish dinner with music and dancers and well worth your time. Monday they do a quiz night (trivia UK style) which we were the embarrassing low score for the night. They ask a lot of UK questions. The Ayrshire area has a lot to offer. If it's golf over 40 courses are within driving distance, the coast is nearby offering water activities. Castles abound in the area and it is Robert Burns (Scotland's National Poet) country. So, if you're a fan of Burns you will be in heaven. A short trip away is the City of Glasgow, which is worth a day trip, and can be done easily with a drive into the City of Ayr. You can park for free at the train station and take a 45-minute ride into Glasgow. Sure beats trying to find costly parking.

Another day-trip could be a short trip up to Loch Lomond. No creature on this Loch, but its beauty is unsurpassed. Scotland and Ayrshire County is a delightful place to visit and unwind. You'll leave refreshed and ready for your next adventure.
